I guess as I go through mid-life crisis I have less tolerance for anything that's shot almost completely in front of a green screen. Everything has a tendency to look too clean and glittery.
Such was the case of this movie's second act, which I thought could have been cut down by at least 15 minutes; because the land of Slumberland was not that interesting. On paper maybe it did, but when seeing it digitally created; and especially when there wasn't much substance going on in those scenes; it was quite boring.
But the subject of the story was actually not that bad. The journey of coming to terms with losing your whole world all of a sudden, can and was very heartfelt. Especially the last 15 minutes, with a surprisingly touching performance from Chris O'Dowd and Marlow Barkley, they made the whole movie a worthwhile watch.
