[Review] After Yang (8.5/10)

Title - After Yang

Starring - Colin Farrell, Jodie Turner-Smith, Malea Emma Tjan, Justin H. Min, Ritchie Coster, Sarita Choudhury, Clifton Collins Jr., Haley Lu Richardson
Writer - Kogonada
Director - Kogonada

This director, Kogonada, reminds me a little of Terrence Malick, from the way he lingered on sceneries, or the "mood shots" as I like to call them; and the way the whole movie had one pace.

As a whole, it was a beautiful movie from start to finish. Beautiful cinematography and beautifully directed and acted. Colin Farrell is having his best year going into the award season, with 3 brilliant acting performances. I would make a case for him to be awarded in both acting categories for the upcoming Oscars.

What was a really good achievement from a storytelling point of view was creating emotions from images shown from the memory of Justin H. Min's character, plus also with how Farrell's character watched them.

The movie was quiet, subtle and there was a sense of comfort just watching it right from the first frame that you can't look away.
