Let's talk about the most obvious, baffling thing first. The CGI, most noticeably in the first big, opening sequence. It's as if the studio ran out of budget and couldn't enhance the CGI further and just left it at that. It's unfortunate.
Second thing, the multiverse-travelling effects. Choosing to bring back some faces from the past, not only did that not do any justice for those characters and actors; but every frame of it also looked weird. I didn't oppose to everything from that sequence. We finally got to see one actor donning the cape, and that was a treat. But other than that, nothing else mattered as they didn't do anything for the story as a whole.
However, as a Barry Allen story, with Ezra Miller playing two characters; this was indeed a brilliant comic book movie. And no matter his personal issues, Miller was great in this movie, so much so that I cannot see anyone else replacing him.
Andy Muschietti is probably the only director out of the DCEU that knew how to direct Ben Affleck's Batman / Bruce Wayne, and gave him a great action sequence to boot. Also, Michael Keaton had his own great sequence a couple of times with the two Barrys.
Sasha Calle's introduction as Supergirl was also great. Her back story was great, Calle's take on the character was great, and her intensity for her character was great - so much so that I could feel her desperation and anguish. Those Supergirl scenes were really well directed.
And at the end of it, the climax of the movie was Barry at the supermarket. And while I didn't balled my eyes out, I felt the delivery. And for this particular story, it was great.
People should just go and watch this movie. It's a big spectacle event and it should be seen on the biggest screens because it's worth the long run time and the ticket price.
