I'm using this particular poster of the movie because this is a terrible poster. For one, the two figures here do not even look like the actors themselves. And it's just a horrible, generic poster that could have been anything or any other movie with two leads.
The underdog theme of this story was very captivating. And with characters like Jay Baruchel's and Matt Johnson's, you can't help but root for them. Even Glenn Howerton's aggressive character was likeable. That's how good these characters were portrayed and started out as.
Especially Johnson, who also co-wrote and directed the movie, he had the best character to play with and was the best friend / business partner / support system anyone could ever wanted. Problem was, he had no character arc or development in the movie.
The first two acts were very interesting, to see the rise of the BlackBerry device and concept, and the genius of Baruchel's character.
But when things went south as Steve Jobs and his iPhone came into play, and Howerton's character suddenly became hands-off; we did not get to see what happened. They were presented as quick jumps in time and cut out all storytelling just to get to the end.
So when the credits started rolling, it wasn't as satisfying a movie as it started out to be.
