[Review] The Apprentice (8/10)

Title - The Apprentice
Production - Scythia Films, Gidden Media, Rocket Science
Starring - Sebastian Stan, Jeremy Strong, Maria Bakalova, Martin Donovan, Charlie Carrick, Ben Sullivan, Mark Rendall, Catherine McNally
Writer - Gabriel Sherman
Director - Ali Abbasi
Release - 11 October 2024

I will not understand it if Jeremy Strong isn't in everyone's top 5 or even top 3 or even top 1 of Best Supporting Actor category. I thought this man gave such an incredible performance and what a character he built onscreen.

Sebastian Stan was no slouch either. He really did humanise Donald Trump, and what a risky move, too, in a year where Trump has garnered so much negativity in one half of the US. Will the Academy Awards see it from a different, non-political perspective?

The way the movie was filmed and made was indeed very good, there was great cinematography as well; but there just wasn't enough of a bite for me to rate it higher. When watching it I was quite engrossed, especially the friendship built between Stand and Strong's characters. But after that I think this will be quite forgettable, except Strong's performance.
