How do you greenlight something as bad as this? How do you greenlight something like this after MCU showed the way? More importantly, how do you greenlight something like this after Madame Web and Morbius?
The only good thing I can say is probably Aaron Taylor-Johnson didn't phone it in. All the CGI work looked competent, I guess money well-spent there? Although a lot of the effects looked like they were taken from the other Marvel movies, so nothing new here.
The cast actually was a very good group of actors. But how does something like this attract talents like that? Russell Crowe wanted to that Marvel paycheck even from something like this?
Except Alessandro Nivola who gave us a more interesting Rhino than The Amazing Spider-Man 2 did, but his character seemed like he was in a movie of his own.
The writing was atrocious. There was no logic from plot point to plot point. And the dialogue was terrible.
