I think Nicole Kidman's performance here easily trumps a couple of others in this year's nomination list for Best Actress. The easy one to pick on would be Karla Sofia Gascon, not because of all the controversy but as one of the best performance of the year; she didn't rank so high up for me.
Kidman's performance here was something we've never seen before. A kind of vulnerability from a sexual desire, and the emotional conflict stemming from it.
Every one in this movie was great, from the two other male leads, Antonio Banderas and Harris Dickinson; to a smaller role from Sophie Wilde (her confrontation left my jaw dropped). Dickinson had no fear acting opposite Kidman in a role like this. His performance made me understand his character very well, through his mannerisms and his devil may care attitude.
