I thought the previous movie was a bit of a let down so I wasn't so eager to go back revisiting another sequel. But this had a few really good moments.
It was from the first two's quality, but the story was actually a lot more compelling than the third one. Even the arc involving the Warrens' daughter and his new fiance were written very sweetly. Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga fell so snugly into their roles and they knew how to deliver their lines.
There's a very silly scene involving climbing up into the attic of a haunted house. It's the kind of writing that didn't cost too much money but made the character looked silly. And in the end when she fell down the stairs, I just ended up thinking she deserved the fall.
But the movie ended with an exciting final battle and this was actually quite fun.
