Joan Cusack's Jessie takes centre stage this time around. A story for our time now in 2026. Still, a heartfelt story and a lesson for the whole family about "play".
An interesting side story also to the Buzz Lightyear army that popped in and out.
Everyone else except Tom Hanks and Tim Allen's characters has taken a back seat with barely a few lines of dialogue this time, making way to new characters voiced by Greta Lee and Conan O'Brien; and they were memorable and impactful characters.
The story itself, still in the same vein as previous instalments, but might have become a little too repetitive and stale at this point. The comedy was also lesser but when they were there, they really worked.
And it's also a bit weird that Woody is no longer the main character of a Toy Story movie; and maybe it would have served the story better if he hadn't played such a big part in this outing. Can it work with Woody in a reduced role? I don't know, and I'm sure Pixar won't risk finding out.
