[Review] Hamnet (8.5/10)

This was a gorgeous movie. Out of all the nominated cinematographers, I am fully behind either this or Train Dreams.

Jessie Buckley was a powerhouse in this, and probably the favourite to take home the golden statue. Paul Mescal has never disappointed and this was another great performance.

There was a scene when young Jacobi Jupe encountered Death, that was such a fantastic shot that almost made my skin crawled.

That ending was really something else. It was so well-crafted and it dragged the emotion out of us whether we liked it or not. And that silence, no dialogue, just the look that Buckley exchanged with Mescal, said more than anything else.

And then there was that tree with a gaping hole in the ground, that was a character on its own.
