I thought this was a really good role for Denzel Washington, and he really brought some A-game acting here. That switch when he realized the mistake in the kidnapping was subtle, but it was great to see the arrogance juxtaposed with how everyone else was feeling in the scene.
But how Spike Lee chose to recreate The Thomas Crown Affair scene with bikes, and then chose not to bring up the multiple people involved, was a very poor choice in storytelling.
And I really do prefer the lowkey style of the third act in the Japanese original. This third act was very Hollywood. But the confrontation in the end was a very nice touch.
